Configure Add-ons Foundry 1.8+
INFO
To learn about Clusters and the shared responsibility model, see Clusters.
By default, the add-ons kube-proxy and CoreDNS are installed into each Cluster. If you want to bring your own replacement (i.e. Cilium's kube-proxy replacement), you can turn them off.
WARNING
Turning off kube-proxy breaks Service routing and turning off CoreDNS breaks DNS in the Cluster, unless something replaces them. Deploy the replacement before you turn the add-on off.
Turn an Add-on On or Off
- Go to Clusters → your Cluster name → Actions → Edit. For a new Cluster, set it during creation.
- Under Addons, switch kube-proxy or CoreDNS on or off
- Click Preview, then Roll out
Turning an add-on off deletes its objects from the Cluster's kube-system namespace. Turning it on deploys them again, with the version of the Cluster's Kubernetes Bundle.
Terraform
Changing addon_kube_proxy or addon_core_dns updates the Cluster in place.
terraform
# create cluster without kube-proxy, for a CNI that replaces it such as Cilium
# (changing it later adds or removes kube-proxy in place)
