Reset Nest Instance
INFO
To learn about Nest Instances, see High Availability.
Resetting takes a Nest Instance out of its Nest: Foundry drains its node and removes its etcd member and Kubernetes objects. The instance keeps its configuration and can be installed again from an Installer Image, or deleted.
Prerequisites
- At least two other Nest Instances have joined the Nest.
- The other Nest Instances are healthy and no update, join, reset or rebalance is running.
Reset a Nest Instance
- Navigate to Admin settings → Nest → tab Instances → select the Nest Instance
- Click Actions → Reset Instance and confirm
The reset runs as an operation. Afterwards the instance's status is Removed.
If Foundry refuses, see Refused Actions.
Two Nest Instances
At this point, Nest runs with two instances. If you lose another instance, etcd will lose quorum; so keep this time frame short and add the third one ASAP.
Highly available Clusters lose their etcd member on the instance. A rebalance adds it again once the Nest has enough instances.
Next Steps
- To install it again, see Reinstall a Nest Instance.
- To remove it, delete it.
